Moon Festival

June, 1969

A ‘lunatic happening’ conceived by Intermedia director Werner Aellen and Herb Gilbert of the UBC Fine Arts department to celebrate the Apollo 11 lunar landing. The event took place at the Planetarium beach, starting at ‘moon rise’ and lasting for three days . The event featured a “moon walk”, moon balloons, sand painting and moon poems.
